Owls & Fashion Vermin

I found this spread from the book “Like I Give a Frock” Fashion Forecast and Meaningless Misguidance , by Michi Girl – over here. It caught my eye because of the cute owl sketches – eventhough I still love owls and always will – I´m so fed up with them right now. And the text on the spread describes precisely how I feel about owls at the moment – owls have followed deers and have simply become fashion vermin!

Fashion vermin. noun. a once-cute animal that has become far too popular for its own good by infiltrating everything from T-shirts, earrings, brooches, knickers, logos, leggings, and every other conceivable piece of fashion fodder. Recent additions to the not- so-endangered spieces list include bluebirds, owls, squirrels, bunnies ….

Cool Kitchens & Ikea upgrades

I´m doing a lot of kitchen research these days, since we will renovate the kitchen in our summerhouse soon. Above is some clippings of my dream kitchens – but the actual kitchen project will be a small basic kitchen from Ikea. So I was very thrilled when I discovered the swedish companies Pickyliving and Studio10 – who both design nice kitchen cabinet doors that fit Ikea´s kitchen elements.  And I spot a new trend here – since theres also another swedish company Bemz – that sells slipcovers for sofas & armchairs to fit the most popular models of IKEA. I think it´s such a clever concept – to take some very popular product and design an up-grade to it! & I wish I had come up with this idea!! It´s the stylish step-sister of Ikea-hacking I guess.

Envelop – illustrated cotton goodies

For a while I´ve had my eyes on Envelop – a Belgium company that produces made-to-order textile products. And with their new & awesome selection of graphic prints from illustrators around the world – it´s time to share! I tried to select a few of my favorites here – but have a look yourself in their shop if you are looking for unique and cool designed textiles . And if you are a designer or illustrator – you can design and sell your own textiles via their online store.
Does it get any better than this?

Gadget girl Wishlist

My birthday is coming up and friends and family have started to ask for my wishlist. So here´s my Gadget girl Wishlist and just to make things clear – I´m not sponsored by Apple – eventhough you can find all the above items in their Apple Store – apart from the Fuji instax mini Polaroid camera.

Trendy dip-dye

I´m quite smitten with the whole gradient and dip-dye trend that´s going on. And I think the journals here from Anthropologie would also be a great DIY-project to try at home with some watercolours and a sewing machine. The cocktail dress by Alice + Olivia was the dress I wanted to wear last summer for our wedding party – but it didn´t fit me at all so I had to return it – but never has a dress made my heart beat so fast! The childrens clothes shown are made by Hollys and the book with the yellow gradient is found via Ffffound - and it all makes me think of SUMMER! If you would like to play with some gradients too you can click here - and then just keep clicking!

Trends 2010 by Bora.Herke Stilbüro

Last year I went to the Ambiente fair in Frankfurt and really enjoyed the trendzones and the trendtalk by bora.herke stilbüro. I will not be going this year – so I was happy to find 4 new 2010 trend interpretations by them. You can read more about each trend here at Ambientes website. The one that appeals to me and my scandinavian roots the most is  genuine + sincere – shown here.
