Amazing Angkor

I´m trying to extend our holidays a little so here´s another travel post – eventhough it´s difficult to describe the grandeur, harmony and beauty of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Angkor was the largest preindustrial city in the world and once held a population of 1 million people (when London´s population was only 40.000 people). And the temple Angkor Wat is the world’s largest single religious monument. We all fell pretty silent walking around the structures, studying the beauty and the craftmanship this place holds. We spent 2 days in a row driving around the huge area with our private Tuktuk drivers – which was a big hit with the kids – and after seeing this amazing place I´m afraid we will be pretty hard to impress in the future. I highly recommend a visit once in a lifetime – either by bike or Tuktuk.

Asian Impression

Here´s a few more photos from our trip – I just love all the colours and contrasts that Asia offers – Flowers at the hotel in Siam Reap, Buddha in Angkor Wat and New Years decorations in Chinatown, Singapore.

Hello again!

We came back form a wonderful and relaxing trip to Thailand & Cambodia this weekend. Today is my first day at work – and I plan to make it a short one. I hope you all had a great and relaxing holiday and will have a wonderful new year 2011. I would like to share a few more photos from Thailand and Cambodia on my blog in the days to come – so that you also can soak up some colours and sun – is that ok with you?

Smells like December

It sure smells and looks like december all around me – I love this month, the lights, the smells, and the little secrets – but also the fact that when December starts to get really busy and hectic we are leaving it all behind for some sun and beachlife. We will celebrate Christsmas in Cambodia this year and New Years Eve in Thailand – but for now I just enjoy December in Denmark.

Under the Tuscan Sun

It´s monday – and time for a little daydreaming! I´ve been trawling the net lately to find the perfect spot for our family summerholiday next year in Tuscany and have been looking at so many villas and farmhouses for rent. And then last week I found this fantastic property La Bandita via A Cup of Jo – which really sums up everything I was looking for – except the price tag! We didn´t book this one – but I like to have it bookmarked – for daydreaming or a very special occasion someday – and maybe you do too!

Edinburgh Snapshots

I promised to share some photos when back from Edinburgh – I didn´t take a lot though – it was too cold to take my hands out of the pockets – or maybe I was just to busy taking it all in. Loved the city and the surroundings and just walking around and around. There´s still so much to see and try – so I´ll be back again for sure – didn´t get enough of the place and not even enough High Tea, Pints  and salt & vinegar chips this time!

Weekend & Wanderlust

I´m sooooo ready for a relaxing late summer weekend – I just love september with all it´s bright colours and crisp air. At the market the other day I picked up lots of berries & plums and also the artichoke flower above. The artichoke flower made my daughter go “whauw” and it also send me down memory lane to when I first saw a field of flowering artichokes in Florence that made me go “whauh” back then. And I was hit quite hard by a strong wish to travel again soon – to discover new fruits and flavours and to see new things for the first time. All this wanderlust also made me remember Troy M. Littens great collection of Wanderlust – browse his collections and you´ll see what I mean – and have a great weekend. Photo via Iphone+ ShakeitPhoto app.
